“Priscilla
Paris – In loving memory"
We called her “Prissy” right from the start. Our
little sister arriving not too far after Sherrell, and having
very quickly to learn the dance routines we were already performing.
She was dancing with us by five or six years old, sharing our
commitment to become a singing sister act, by standing around
the piano with us every night, learning the songs of that time.
We gave Priscilla the lead part because she was too young to
carry a harmony. She would carry the responsibility for that
part throughout our long and exciting career.
Priscilla was the
independent one. When we finally decided to create individual
hairstyles, when we began to wear separate
outfits, it was Prissy who championed the changes. She had a
unique style and a vocal sound that will forever be imprinted
in musical history. And she not only could sing and dance but
she composed hundreds of songs on her guitar, she painted, she
learned to speak beautiful French, and she raised two wonderful
sons, Edan and Seth.
When Priscilla left the Paris Sisters to
go out on her own, she left her family behind but now her world
opened up to include
solo albums and performances, something that had always been
her dream. She went first to London, and eventually found her
way to Paris, a city that she loved and lived in for 25 years.
There she taught English idiom to the staffs of the most prestigious
hotels, she owned a restaurant, she had her second son, Seth.
And she always had the courage of her convictions. Sherrell speaks
of the depth of her personal loss, how nothing will be quite
the same again. “I am one of three sisters,” was
the lyric that always sprang to mind when she was asked about
siblings. Three sisters, who right from childhood, shared everything,
most of all the synchronicity of sound and movement and the interpretation
of both. “Prissy”, we will miss your strength and
your spirit; we will miss your bright mind and your quick wit…You
have left us too soon and we have a tear in our hearts that will
never close completely. It needs to be filled with the sound
of that third vocal part. Prissy… we will miss and love
you forever.
